Kyan is the result of a faithful monk being raped. His mother was thrown out of the monastery for they didn't believe her and it went against the rule of abstinence. She keeps punishing herself for what wasn't her fault. Loving his mother dearly young Kyan asks her to stop. He offers to keep going her path and become a monk in her place. Kyan lives in perfect abstinence for over fifty years always watching over the women in the monastery and defending rape victims. When suddenly he falls in love with a woman named Bella who was raped, his whole world turns around. Despite his help they won't believe her and plan to banish her. The life as a monk means everything to Bella. Kyan then lies saying it was him who raped her. He gets thrown out of the monastery. The Gods know the truth behind the story. Admiring his bravery and faith they ask him to join the mission and protect Arcanum's King and Queen.

One day in a market place Celerina sees a woman singing a beautiful ballad to hundreds of listeners. She knows then what she wants to be one day. A singer. That's what she becomes. A hopeless romantic she moves to the Island of Light, Lucida that looks like it's cut out of a fairy-tale. Hoping to reach fame and find true love there she sings love songs on every market-place and even in "The Crystal Restaurant". The proud owner of it is Ian Vehemens. He is not so pleased about her singing there without asking for permission and therefore bothering the customers. He throws her out, being the first guy who is rude to her. She apologises and tries asking him out whereupon Ian who knows about her ever-changing boyfriends unfairly calls her "The Town's Mattress". She becomes obsessed with him and stalks him for she had never been rejected before. Until he finally meets the weird slave girl on the run, Aurea Vitae. When he falls for her Celerina gives up on him. She'd never destroy a relationship for the attraction between the two seems mutual. But what happens then? If never destroying a relationship was her policy then how did she end up ruining their wedding and leaving Lucida with Ian? And why would she bind her life to a mission that serves guarding Aurea and her new husband?
